Eric the Crocodile, one of the world’s most-loved zoo-mascots died on the 30th of June, 2007, after 18 years of service to the Australian Reptile Park. His age was popularly estimated to be over 60 years. Eric thrilled a generation of visitors with his aggressive feeding antics, but will be remembered by all who worked with him with great affection and gratitude for the experiences and memories he generated. His on-line fan club includes over 10,000 members, and his ‘birthday’ celebrations always attracted many thousands of visitors to the Central Coast every October. A ‘soft’ memorial for Eric was held at the Reptile Park on Thursday, 12 July, following a decision by the staff and management to not hold a full-on public ceremony. This video runs for just under 7 minutes.
